Student Energy Efficiency Education

Appalachian Power proudly sponsors the TakeCharge energy education programs, designed for students in 5th grade and high school. These programs highlight the significance of energy, natural resources, and environmental issues. As part of the program, each participating student's family receives energy-efficient technologies to install at home.

Program Details

  • Easy to Implement: The programs are straightforward and align with educational standards, featuring engaging content and hands-on activities.
  • Teacher Resources: Educators are provided with a variety of supplemental materials and optional classroom activities to enhance the learning experience.
  • Family Engagement: Students will work with their families to complete a survey about the energy-efficient changes they’ve made at home.
  • Incentives for Teachers: Teachers who submit completed survey forms can earn a mini grant of up to $75, based on the percentage of completed home energy worksheets returned. A minimum return rate of 50% is required to qualify for the grant.
