Air Leakage Assessment for Electrically Heated Homes

  • $50 for a 3 - 4 hour assessment by a trained energy specialist
  • Installation of simple, low-cost energy efficient improvements with your permission
  • Completion of a Blower Door Test to identify air leaks in the home
  • Minor air sealing to reduce air leaks in the home

New Construction Rebate

The HomeSMART New Construction Rebate is designed to encourage site-built single-family homes to be more energy efficient, through a number of incentives. There are three levels of rebates:

Tier 1 - Silver: Participation at this level is very accessible. The builder may choose this option if they want to incorporate any or all of the energy saving measures listed below for up to $1,000 in rebates. This option does require an inspection, which may be completed during the construction process to verify that the measures claimed are actually installed.

Tier 2 - Gold: Participation at this level require that energy efficient measures implement allow the home to meet the HERS 75* (or better) rate requirements as determined by a licensed Rater.** Achieving this target allows us to provide a flat-rate rebate of $1,500 plus an additional $400 to offset the fee for the Rater to evaluate, inspect, and certify that the threshold is met.

Tier 3 - Platinum: Participation at this level require energy efficient measures that allows the home that meet the HERS 60* (or better) rate requirements as determined by a licensed Rater.** This rebate is a flat rate of $2,500 for the improvements, plus an additional $400 per home for to offset Rater fees to evaluate, inspect, and certify that the required threshold is at least met.

*You may only qualify for one of the tiers on any given home. Rebates cannot be combined.

**Rater must be approved and registered with the TakeCharge Program.

Other Available Rebates

The HomeSMART Energy Assessment Program offers rebates for the installation of energy-saving measures when they are recommended by a program-approved energy specialist. Only customers with electrically heated homes qualify for rebates. Rebates must be completed by a participating contractor. The rebate budget is limited and rebates will be paid for all eligible and qualifying installed measures, until such time as the program ends or the rebate budget is exhausted.
