Energy Efficiency Incentives for Colleges and Universities
Appalachian Power Commercial and Industrial Programs help you manage the cost of energy saving upgrades with incentives ranging from $0.04 to $0.12 per kWh saved for interior and exterior lighting, HVAC systems, food service equipment and more.
Light your campus for less
Upgrading to high efficiency interior and exterior lighting systems will help you save energy and reduce maintenance costs. The long-term savings offset the initial cost of many of the upgrades, such as installing automatic lighting controls, replacing T12 lamps with high-performance T8s and more.
Save big with HVAC improvements
HVAC systems account for 46 percent of the electricity consumed by educational institutions in the U.S. each year, which leaves plenty of room for improvement. We aim to help you offset the initial cost of energy-saving upgrades, such as ductless heat pumps and demand-controlled ventilation systems, so that you can enjoy the many benefits of energy-efficient equipment and consume less.
Serve lunch with a side of savings
Serving thousands of meals every day, you can achieve greater long-term savings when you upgrade to an ENERGY STAR commercial kitchen, which can include high efficiency refrigerators, freezers, ice machines and more.
How will I benefit from an upgrade?
- Cash incentives reduce upfront costs: Rebates of $0.06 per kWh help with upfront costs of purchasing and installing energy efficient equipment.
- Reduce electric use and operating costs: Upgrading equipment and appliances to high efficiency equipment reduces electric use, and thus your electric bills.
- Improved living and learning environments: Increasing student and faculty comfort and safety with newer high efficiency systems can lead to better productivity and student success.
